In response to comments by many of you, the AAEP Board of Directors has requested and obtained approval from the National Association of Environmental Professionals to offer a special membership to environmental professionals residing in Alaska. Alaska residents may now join the AAEP as an "Alaska Member Only" at a new special rate of $25.00 per year-- and that requires no national membership dues. Your local dues will help support AAEP activities within Alaska that include an annual educational scholarship for a deserving student at an Alaskan university pursuing a career in the environmental sciences, monthly brown bag seminars throughout the year, and the annual meeting. Other details on this membership, and how you can become an AAEP member, will be available at the annual meeting or you may contact Denise Saigh at katmaien@gci.net to request a membership application. Membership QualificationsGeneral NAEP/AAEP MembershipGeneral Membership normally requires appropriate educational background and three (3) years experience and is open to all persons who have been engaged in work directly related to environmental management, planning, impact assessment, environmental protection or environmental compliance including such activities as permitting, compliance, auditing, regulatory review, research, teaching, engineering, design, quality assurance and implementation of environmental protection and control. Only general members residing in Alaska are eligible to vote and hold office in AAEP. General membership includes NAEP membership. Note that membership structure is under review by NAEP; any changes will be posted.
