The Alaska Association of Environmental Professionals (AAEP) began awarding $1,000 scholarships in 1995 to support Alaskan scholars in the fields of environmental science, engineering, and environmental policy. Through 2009, AAEP has awarded $27,000 in scholarships since we began these awards. Our scholarship program has expanded over the years and now includes awards to students attending Alaska Pacific University (APU), University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA), University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF), and/or the University of Alaska Southeast (UAS). Contact the school’s Financial Aid Office for information on how to apply for the AAEP scholarship for Fall 2010.

Lindsey
is a graduate student pursuing a Master’s of Science degree in Environmental
Science/Marine Biology at APU. Lindsey’s
thesis topic is “Passive acoustic monitoring of the Cook Inlet beluga whale (Delphinapterus leucas) in lower Knik Arm,
“Thank you for the scholarship. It is an honor to receive it. The scholarship will allow me to focus more
on my studies and dedicate more time to writing my thesis. As a result, it will
